How to Make Your Strip Lashes Last (Because We're Not Made of Money)

You just snagged a gorgeous pair of lashes and they look chef's kiss. But here's the thing with the right care, you can wear them again and again instead of tossing them after one use. Learning how to make your false lashes last longer means more money in your pocket and your favorite lash styles always ready to go. Let's make those lashes work harder for you!

      1. Remove Them Like You Love Them

At the end of the night, gently peel your lashes off starting from the outer corner. Don't just rip them off like a band-aid (I know you're tired, but trust me).

Proper lash removal is the most important step in extending the life of your strip lashes. Never pull forcefully, rough removal is the number one way people ruin their reusable lashes.

      2. Store Them Properly

Pop your lashes back in their original case or a clean container after cleaning. This keeps them protected and helps them maintain their shape and curl. No one wants sad, flat lashes that lost their personality.

Proper storage is essential for maintaining the shape and curl of your false lashes. The original packaging is designed specifically to cradle the lashes and preserve their curve. If you've lost the original case, invest in a dedicated lash case or use a clean, small container.

Storage tips for maximum lash longevity:

      • Always store lashes curved side up to maintain their shape
      • Keep them in a cool, dry place away from heat and humidity
      • Never store lashes while they're still dirty or damp
      • Consider labeling containers if you have multiple pairs
      • Avoid stacking multiple pairs on top of each other, as this can flatten them

      3. Go Easy on the Glue

When applying, use just a thin line of lash glue along the band, less is more! Too much glue makes them harder to remove and can damage the lashes when you're trying to clean them later.

The amount of adhesive you use directly impacts how easy your lashes are to clean and reuse. A thick layer of glue creates buildup that's difficult to remove completely, eventually making the lash band stiff and unusable. Apply a thin, even layer of adhesive along the entire lash band using the applicator or a toothpick.

Wait 30-60 seconds for the glue to become tacky before applying. This prevents the adhesive from seeping into the lash fibers and makes removal much cleaner.

      4. Keep Them Dry

Water and strip lashes aren't besties. Avoid getting them soaking wet, and definitely don't wear them in the shower or pool. A little moisture from tears or a light mist is fine, but they're not waterproof superheroes.

Water can loosen the adhesive, cause the lash band to warp, and make the fibers lose their curl. If your lashes do get wet accidentally, gently pat them dry with a tissue and let them air dry completely in their case to help them maintain their shape.

While a few tears or light rain won't ruin your lashes, avoid wearing them in situations where they'll be submerged or heavily splashed. Save your favorite pairs for dry events, and invest in waterproof mascara for your natural lashes instead when you need water-resistant eye makeup.

      5. Know When to Let Go

Real talk: even with amazing care, strip lashes won't last forever. If they're looking raggedy, losing hairs, or the band is falling apart, it's time for a fresh pair. Quality lashes can typically give you 10-25 wears with proper TLC.

Signs it's time to retire your strip lashes:

      • The lash band has become stiff, warped, or won't hold its curve
      • Multiple lash fibers are missing or falling out
      • The lashes look visibly dirty even after cleaning
      • The band is starting to separate or tear
      • The lashes have lost their original shape and curl
      • They no longer adhere properly even with fresh glue

Higher-quality false lashes made from premium materials like faux mink will generally last longer than budget synthetic options. While they cost more upfront, the extended wear makes them more economical in the long run. Most quality strip lashes should give you 15-25 wears with excellent care, while budget lashes typically max out around 5-10 uses.

Your lashes deserve the VIP treatment! A few extra seconds of care after each wear means you'll get way more use out of every pair.

Plus, you'll always have your favorite styles ready to go when you need that extra confidence boost. 💕
